2007 Angie Anderson Memorial Dog Jog

The second annual Angie Anderson Memorial Dog Jog - what a beautiful tribute to a great lady! Gary and I both remember Angie Anderson, from back in Gary's days at Yonkers Rehabilitation.  It was a glorious morning, the flood waters had receded (although the raging waters left their mark on the trail). Today, Priscilla and Gracie Land joined the fun.

The girls were already pre-registered, so we just picked up the "goodie bag" and bandanas.

We were reminded several times along the route to keep puppies leashed. Waste bags were placed in many locations.

The morning offered several beautiful views.

The accessible fishing pier had just re-opened.

More fun facts. Much of the trail is very shady
P6097403.JPG
The girls rush to make up time. I guess photography slows them down!

Gentle reminders along the way

The girls seem oblivious to the signs

The girls pause in the shady trail just north of the river
P6097417.JPG
No hunting?!? Can we at least herd??
P6097418.JPG
Gracie finds another sign as we near the halfway point
P6097420.JPG
We take a few minutes to head through the grass to the lake. The grass is still wet with dew!
P6097425.JPG
Gracie's had enough - it's time to move again.
P6097429.JPG
Gracie is definitely on the lookout for fun facts.
P6097431.JPG
Gracie locates a bench overlooking the river, just before the trail heads north

Off they go again - through sun and shade
P6097453.JPG
The girls are tempted to swim - but don't want to get their bandanas wet!
P6097454.JPG
Yikes! What happened to the trail?!?
P6097455.JPG
The trail is scarred from the flood waters. A huge ravine stands where the trail once stood
P6097456.JPG
Dauntless, the girls plow through sand and rock
P6097458.JPG
And emerge to find the trail - and another fun fact!
P6097462.JPG
The trail is barricaded with a sign warning of the washout. We are close to the Dog Park here

One final fun fact near the beach. Our fun day at the Dog Jog is nearly completed.
