Angie Anderson Memorial Dog Jog

We were glad to see the Angie Anderson Memorial Dog Dog return again this year. Gary and I both remember Angie as an OT after Gary's accident. So the girls jumped into the back of the van to help raise funds in her memory.

We stopped at the registration table to check in. We were able to register online for this event!

We started out on the trail - with signs already cautioning dog owners!

It was a quiet, hazy morning just after sunrise

Just a few walkers in the morning light.

The fishing pier waits for anglers

We head toward the woods

We enter the trail - with glimpses of the lake

A quiet morning for fishing

Priscilla looks for critters...

Gracie grows impatient for Priscilla to catch up!

Gracie decides to help Gary

Is she pulling Gary??

A quiet reflection in the hazy morning light

We move closer to the river

Gracie stops to check out the water station...I think she's wanting to jump in!

The city of West Des Moines provides bags to clean up after puppies.

Oh, no! Must be wash-outs ahead!

But Gary tries the path - look at the deep rut!

The wash-out is quite deep!

Gentle reminders to be good Canine Citizens

Gary proceeds cautiously as other dogs arrive.

West Des Moines Parks helps out the wildlife

Many plants catch our eyes along the path

Priscilla seems oblivious to the beautiful scenery around us

Many native plants prosper in the park

The Raccoon River is calm and low - what a contrast to the flood waters that caused the trail damage!

Prissy invites me to sit for a spell...

...but Gracie is ready to go!

A variety of flowering plants dot the path

A Wooly Bear Caterpillar!

Priscilla pauses to pose

The girls try to illustrate the depth of the ravine - look at the shadows!

Gracie and Gary move carefully past the wash-out

Priscilla waits for Gary to catch up

Gracie locates the water....

...and Priscilla takes advantage of the cool water

More puppies on the trail!

Priscilla spies more puppies...

A few thistles along the path

Look first at the berries...

...then shift your focus to the travelers!

Gary and Gracie move steadily

A whole dog pack greets us!

Priscilla enjoys the walk

Gary visits with a team of dogs

The girls talk briefly..

...then Priscilla takes the lead!

Another fisherman tries his luck.

Gracie is still not interested in taking a drink..

...but Priscilla doesn't miss any opportunity to drink

We move along the mile markers

The fishing pier can be seen through the flowers

A steady group of dogs keep joining the walk

Here come more puppies!

We approach the entrance to the lake area

The morning sun still casts long shadows.

Gary and girls greet more puppies

The trail is still beautifully lined with wild plants.

We near the end of the trail

This puppy hitches a ride with its owner!

The ARL staff waits for our return!

Equipment is set up for an agility trial. Woof!
